Title Tags That Get Clicked: A Simple Formula With Examples

Your title tag is your headline on Google. A simple formula, real before-and-after examples, and the mistakes that cost you clicks.

Your title tag is the blue headline people see on Google. It's one of the strongest signals of what a page is about, and it decides whether anyone clicks. Most sites waste it.

Five mistakes to avoid

  • The same title on every page. Each page competes for different searches. Give each its own.
  • Brand first. Unless people search for your name, it wastes the most valuable words.
  • Too long. Google cuts titles at roughly 600 pixels and may rewrite them entirely.
  • Keyword stuffing. "Shoes, Cheap Shoes, Best Shoes" reads like spam to people and search engines.
  • Promises the page doesn't keep. A high bounce rate tells search engines the result wasn't useful.

Our checker flags missing, duplicate, too-long and too-short titles on every page. On the free plan it writes a better one from your own page content, and puts it live when you approve it. Check your titles now.
