SEO for Free / Page speed
Page speed
How fast your site feels on a real phone.
Speed is part of how Google ranks pages, and on mobile data it decides whether visitors stay. SEO for Free reports Core Web Vitals from real visitors where Google has data, and points to the pages, images and scripts weighing your site down.
The three numbers that matter
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): how long until the main content shows. Good is under 2.5 seconds.
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): how much the page jumps while loading. Good is under 0.1.
- Interaction to Next Paint (INP): how quickly the page answers a tap. Good is under 200 ms.
Real visitors, not a lab guess
Figures come from Google’s Chrome User Experience Report where your site has enough visitors, and are labelled as reported by Google. This needs a free Google API key on the server; without it the speed card says so rather than inventing numbers. Every reading still measures response times and page weight itself.
Questions
Are Core Web Vitals a ranking factor?
Yes, as part of Google’s page experience signals. They rarely beat relevance, but between similar pages the faster one has the edge.
Why is there no Core Web Vitals data for my site?
Google only publishes real-visitor data for sites with enough Chrome traffic. Smaller sites can still see response times and page weight.
What slows most websites down?
Large images, too many scripts and fonts, and slow server responses. The audit lists the heaviest offenders page by page.
